Crazy001 has a good reputation on FTE. Crazy001 has a good reputation on FTE.
Not to offend anyone here, but this thread is sounding an awful lot like middle school playground chatter rather than a real discussion. Of course, I have nothing against beer or peeing contests or anything else of the sort, but the actual argument is just getting dumb here.

Both sides are so insistent that theirs is the best for whatever reason they can dream up that nobody is ever gonna win this debate, nor convince one of the true believers on the opposite side of the fence the error of their ways.

Seriously, this is just dumb! For the record, HP matters. The V10 when pulling at peak HP WILL pull harder than my 6.4 will short of aftermarket modifications. But that 12 HP advantage is only 3.4% higher than the diesel, so it's a relatively insignificant difference.

Both will pull heavy things up big hills. Beyond that...who cares?

QwkTrip is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Having agreement isn't necessary to win an argument.

so i think the debate is over.
the V10 and 6.4PSD pull about the same.
The V10 is cheaper.
The MPG of the V10 is slightly less.
both will give a long service life.
So can we all agree know that are trucks are the same?
The V10 guys love them and the PSD guys love them, so we should all be on the same side of the fence! ( the blue oval side!!!)

I think the closest apples to apples test would be

diesel with 3:73

v10 with 4:30

keeps both in the proper rpm range.

to say a v:10 won't pull as well as a diesel with 3:73s is flawed logic.

The diesel is at it's best at relatively low rpm
the gasser is at it's best when it's wound up.

both make incredible power, both make diffrent "feeling" power.

which is better?
depends.

It depends on personal choice.
there is no question that either will do the job more than adequately

Hell I currently have the v8, for me it's the right choice.

*translation* there is no universally better choice.

As long as it's a sd, you made the right choice.

Actually they both have advantages and disadvantages. Personally I don't like the noise pollution and the smoke of a diesel but everybody is different. What is strange is that the 2 stroke smoke and the noise from my snowmobile doesn't bother me. Actually I think the diesel sounds like it has a bunch of broken piston skirts and smokes like it has broken rings to boot. :

Them diesels are not that noisy. I cant here mine in the cab. Pollution well dont notice that either. Simple fact a diesel will pull a load better then the V 10. You have to own a diesel to say that an I do. The V 10 will get the job done also. The torque on a diesel is really hard to beat. Id say if you pulling heavy loads all the time get the diesel. If you occassionally pull a load. The V 10 will work just fine. That should please everybody.

I think they are quieter these days. They were pretty annoying (like in the old Mercedes cars) clack, clack, clack......

You've obviously never owned a 7.3.

Make no mistake, the 7.3 ain't the engine to have if you're trying to sneak around and be quiet!

The V10 will get your truck off the line, when your turbos are spooled up your 6.4 will pass my truck. When I get up over 4,000 RPM I will go by you.
The thing is the V10 can turn more revs, meaning you can run a lower gear and get more power and tq to the ground. Midrange is the only place a 6.4 can outpull a V10.
What is the red line on a 6.4PS?

I will admit, my 97 is much noisier than my 02. The HPX I installed on the 02 helped out some too.
