1970 302

Hello All,
I have a 1970 302 in my F100 (same year). She as a miss at idle and I was thinking about removing the points & condenser and installing a points removal kit. only thing is I don't have any idea what would be the most reliable kit to use. does any one have experience with points removal kits and if so what has worked best for you?

Thank you,
Jim

Install a Pertronix, its probably the best for the money.Very easy to put in,just goes in place of the points.

Understand the Pertronix is simplest route to go, there are several threads where members mentions they were pleased with the kits. Went with the Duraspark II in the 65 which has a 70 Torino 302, very pleased. Other than not having to deal with setting the point gap, with the Duraspark, the plug gap increased to .044, not sure about pertronix, may want to confirm if go that route.

I have recently asked this same question and was pointed towards the Pertronix kit. It seems to be the most proven solution. One gentleman told me to also get the Pertronix coil, he said he never had a problem with a kit so long as he used their coil too.

Thanks for the info.
I was looking at them just yesterday.. I also saw a ACCEL ignition one for $59.00 for the whole kit including the rotor. the only caution I have read is make sure you use a coil with less than 1 ohm resistance. the replacement module is only $30.00 for the accel also.

Don't know if anyone has any experience with the ACCEL but it's a heck of a lot cheaper than any other ones.

BTW-- when looking at pertronix what version is best not just based on highest priced being best. I beleive II would be good and III overboard for a mostly stock engine.

thanks all.

Thumbs up "the flame thrower coil"

Be careful about the coil you use or you could fry you stuff you just installed
your better off getting the complete kit I went with the accel no problems at all

What coil did you use..I have not seen anything specific to the coil with the accel package. Just to use one with less than 1 ohm primary resistance ...

did not see any accel kits with a coil, yet.
