swapping 5.0 to 4.6 dohc in my 79 2wd

just putting it out there, it will fit. i am putting a 4.6 dohc in my 1979 f-150 2wd. i kinda did it on a dare, i figured the frame was not wide enough, but it cleared. just 3/4 inch play room around the steering box.
pics to come soon..... thanks

here are pics, i know it looks bad but keep in mind it this is just a mock up to ee if it would fit. engine only got around 90,000 on it so i will just clean it, put new gaskets in it and add the cobra intake..

old worn out 302

empt engine bay

realised i had to pull the clip to put the 4.6 in

ok, it fits. (i know it is crooked, i centered it yesterday)

after i get the new mounts in, it will sit a bit higher. also need to get the cobra intake on becouse it has a passengers side mid mounted tb.. then once i knosw 100% everything will work and fit, i am gonna pull it back out, to clean and paint the engine and engine bay.. thanks

wider than a 460... even filles this huge ass engine bay. i sat everything in to make sure it will work, gonna have to move the battery to the other side so i can make an air box to go in the factory battery area, also not alott of room for headers. so i mite have to make a custom one for the drivers side, so it clears the steering box...

ok, ordered my mounts and bought a set if cobra stang header, looks like they will fit. still waiting on mounts, ance i get those here i can check fitment with those, and get some more work done on it. i also went and got the paint, gonnna go with black spatter paint on the engine bay, classic blue on the block, wrinkle finish black on the cam covers, and gunmetal grey on the new intake i got.. also been doing alott witth the electronics, making it a stang alone system using mark viii wiring..

also i'm trying to decide if i want to go with the r470w trans i got or swich to a simpler c4... i am undecided, either way i gotta spend like 400.00 in parts so??

I didn't think you can get a C4 tranny to fit the modular block? That would require an adapter plate, wouldn't it?

no, the c4 has a detachable bellhousing. you can buy a bellhousing that bolts to a 4.6/5.4 and with that you can use a c4 auto.. thanks

i had time to blow, so i sat the new intake on to see how it looks...

i cant realy do anything on it work wise becouse my parts wont be here untill the 6th or 7th. plus if this rain dont let up i'm gonna go insane anyway so it wont matter. i have had rain at my place 22 of the last 30 days an only had 2 nice sunny days.. but hopfully by the time my parts get here the rain will be gone and i can get some work done..
