1,000 sounds like alot , I had mine done for 650 , but dyno time is expensive , its worth it to get a good tune . I guess they will set all your shift points in the trans to ..... Lew

They make carb intakes for the 4.6l dohc but they are real expensive. http://www.sullivanperformance.com/Y.../intake4.6.htm
Then you still have to get the carb, dial the carb in and tune the trans.

I'm no expert on the matter but an Xcal3 tuner and the SCT Pro Racer software may work to get everything dialed in. The thing is your looking $400 or so for the tuner and another $350 or so for the software. Plus there will be a huge learning curve for you and a lot of trial and error and datalogging.

Johnny Lightning Performance is about 3 hours south of you. Might be worth giving them a call and see what they have to say. Some of the stuff that comes out of JLP is pretty crazy.

You can buy a book about tuning to see if you would want to. Engine management advanced tuning by greg banish. I highly recommend it. I do all my own tuning. Yes you can go carb with a manifold made for a Mustang. It won't work on a heavy truck. If you supercharged it then it would work.

Yeah I see that. 2500-7500rpm is up there for a truck motor.

I think 03 lightning wheels are 18in wheels , why would you want to do that to a 79 truck ???
