well, i'm gonna go with a good sealer to keep it from rusting. or maybe i'll just rustoleam it, you can thin that stuff down and spray it thru a gun.. looks good too, but lots of orange peel.

Subscribing. Pondering a 5.4 for my '78 4x4, and this may help. Keep going!!

The 5.4L is a lot more torque and I have the rubber streaks in the driveway to prove it. Just gear it right after it's in.

Definatly a sweet project and should haul ass when done. I'm subscribed to this thread for shure. If you need any carbide bits to get through the frame rail you can get some fast from www.mcmaster.com you don't need an account and they have a big warehouse in NJ so you'll get the stuff next day.

i got good news and bad news..

the good, well i got my cab yesterday.. looks good, i'm preping it for instale rite now....

the bad, it looks like using a c4 auto is out. i geuss they make all the parts but a kickdown cable, becouse it is desined for people that are doing a c4 with manual valve body.. i dont want that, i i geuss i am gonna have to figure out how to hook up the wiring for the 4r70w that i got.. i was trying to get around the wiring invalved in that. thats why i was gonna use the c4... so i'm on th lookout for some wiring info for 4r70w tranny's if anyone knows where i can get a layout... thanks

The 4R70 is a good trans. Just needs a shift kit. The harness should just hook right up.

The TQ will be loose also and take a while to lockup. I'd take care of the converter lockup also if your going to put a "shift kit" in it.
