Bird Dog is starting off with a positive reputation.
So what's the difference between the KCM S.S.HPX and Clay's HPX?

Anybody got any pic's??

I'm ordoring one on Monday. So, which one should it be?

I'll try to get my wife to send the pics , hard to see installed though.
Clay's HPX doesn't dip down into the valley, it's a straight run across from head to head. Clay's HPX also isn't SS, he said he couldn't find a good reason that SS was any better than "regular 'ol" steel.

Here are the photos. You can do the install without removing anything, but I found it much easier to do with the intake removed. Photos don't show much but you get the idea.

That last photo is kind of crappy but oh well This would have been a 10 minute job if not for the photos.

I suffer from the same thing. I always think I am going to take pics and I get to excited and into the mods and forget all about it.

Mainly it boils down to user preference. Soft lines used to be more predominant but there were a few failures of the hose over time from heat and pressure. I am not aware if this was because of inferior materials or workmanship. That is the reason our soft line is made from the best materials and then to put it over the top we used a firesleeve for even more heat protection. So either way it gets the job done. Let me know if I can help you further, and don't hesitate to give us a call. Thanks

I finally got around to installing one on my 02 yesterday. I bought 2, one for my 97 also. I got the soft lines myself. Unfortunately, on my 97, there isn't a place where the plugs are accessible straight across from each other. Is there a different version for the older trucks, or do you have to re-route the HPO lines?

BTW, it does appear to idle smoother, and quieter.

Clay,

How much does that stainless line cost? I have the KCM line from ITP and really like it. Im curious is there is a different between the two in how they work with the KCM having deeper bends and going down into the valley as compared to hows yours is designed.

I'm not able to post pricing on the open forum but you are welcome to PM or call, sorry about that. The difference in mine and the KCM is basically as you stated with the bends. We decided to take the shortest and most direct route to keep it easy on the install and on the wallet. They both perform the same function.

clay is there a better one, like vs the hard or soft, because the price between the two is alot different. is it just the way you have to build the soft one that makes the price difference.
