F5 coe battery cover/step

Does anyone have a photo of the battery cover/ passenger side step for a 1950 F5 coe? Anyone ever make a replacement?

Here's a pic of a member's truck that has it. Don't know whether it's being repoped. Doubt it. There's also a diagram in the Chassis Manual of it, but it's not much better than this pic. Stu

f5 battery cover

Thanks Stu,
the picture you posted looks more like a home made one out of maybe diamond plate. I think the original was a stamped steel piece with larger radii and smoother overall shape. Maybe someone else would have a photo of and original. Can I access the chassis mamual you mentioned?
Thanks

You may well be correct seeing that it's diamond plate. The pic in the Chassis Manual isn't much clearer. My manual is the paper version. Some members have it on CD. It's shown in Section #16510 for the box (part # 7W 16510) and Section #16524 for the battery cover pad (part #7W 16524-A). Same numbers for all years 48-52.

I also checked the Body Parts Catalog but didn't find it there. Stu

I have the cover in storage .... and will post a photo later today after work.
The one on the truck shown is not an original, and there are no remakes being done. Stay tuned...

thanks 48fordcoe

It looks like a three sided box with two latch mechanism's to me.
robertr mentioned he has one in storage. I would like to reproduce one for my f5. I have access to the tools I think I would need. Thanks

COE step photo

Sorry this took so long ..... but anyway ... here are two photos of an orginal COE step. From what I've seen the COE steps are all the same from 1948 through 1952. This particular one is from a 51 F6 COE.

I am currently dipping this step in chemical to remove the paint, and will be bead blasting it next week sometime. I can put up better photos then.

Niether the battery box rubber nor the fender step rubber for the drivers side have ever been reproduced. Tom
