How do I get the headliner panel out of my supercab ranger?

I'm thinking of recovering the healiner in my 1994 Ranger Supercab. I've been looking and planning and measuring and ordering. All of a sudden I thought that it looks nearly impossible to remove the headliner panel from the truck.

Has anyone ever removed a headliner panel from a supercab?

The panel is about 48 X 50. The door opening on the longest diagonal is 51. To get the panel out the door opening, it looks like the door will have to come off. That seems like a huge PITA. I'm just wondering if there's some advice on how to get that thing out of there and then back in without bending it something awful and having it break apart.

Alternatively, I could try recovering it in the truck. But, applying adhesive and the new fabric upside down without getting adhesive all over everything seems pretty challenging too.

Any advice on this would be great.

I had the same series of thoughts while working on my crew cab F250. I had pretty come to the impression pulling glass or seats would be the only way to get it out in one piece. The cardboard can be bent and warped as long as you crease it. I expect, if you pull out the front seats, it will slide in and out with much if any damage.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

I worked at a mini truck wrecking yard in California back in 85 to 87 I think. I had to take them damn things out quite a bit. The rear window was the easiest way back then. But it can be done by taking all the seats, and center console out. Tip it toward the passanger side, then then angle it toward the passanger door. It should come out real easy. It's better to have someone help through the drivers door once you have it tipped just to guide it through the passanger door.
The head liner isn't card board, it's actually a thin hard white foam of some sort. If you get a crease in it, it will probably show through what ever you cover it with.
