I told the owner to hold the truck for me. I'm going to pick it up this Friday. Hope all is well!

I'm going to check the MLPS and the drive shaft.

I'm getting confused. Where is the MLPS?

And is replacing the u-joints difficult?

I'm hoping I can get this truck in decent running shape when I get it.

"MLPS"? What is that? M-Motor,L-line, P-Pressuer, S-switch. I dont know!
The CV joint gave me some problems but I could do the u-joint at the axel.

Manual lever position sensor. It tells the tranny what position the gear shift indicator is in.

You have to pull the shift cable off the shift arm at the tranny.
loosen bolt and remove shift arm.
Loosen two bolts that hold mlps to tranny and remove mlps

The new mlps bolts on...bolt shift arm back on, re-attach shift cable....that's it!
It will take you 10 minutes to swap if nothing gives you a problem.
These are known for acting up on occasion and will cause the symptoms you describe.

All the best with your new truck!......Let us know how things go.

Thanks guys! I'm picking it up first thing Friday since I have the day off.

I'll post some pics of the truck when I get it.
