2000 7.3L Super Duty - AC Clutch Slipping

Yesterday my A/C stopped working. Took a look under the hood and noticed a squealing coming from the a/c clutch.
When A/C is on and clutch is engaged the compressor spins some times but is accompanied by a squeal and is definitely slipping. I checked the air gap and it is very small under 0.35"" the magnets (or what looks to be magnets) on the clutch hub are worn down. I took the pulley off and removed the last spacer that was inside and bolted it back on. It then had virtually no air gap. The compressor ran and the ac worked perfectly except that the clutch would not disengage.

What should I replace? The entire compressor with new clutch? The clutch assembly or just specific parts. I really do not want to have to evacuate and recharge the refrigerant if I don't have to.

Could the compressor be faulty causing the clutch to slip?

All you need is a new new clutch plate. Reinstall the previously removed shim when you install the new plate.

I'd recommend a Motorcraft part only.

What causes the clutch plate to wear? Could the pulley or bearing be bad?
