You can put the pipes on it without doing the break in miles. However, if you want to improve the sound of the existing exhaust, try this:
What the VTX riders call the
Clayton mod- all you have to do is drill 7 holes in the first baffle around the center stud. Use a 15/32" drill bit ( a very long one) and just drill through the sheet metal. It took me about 10 minutes to do mine and the sound is great. It also passed inspection with the mod done. If you don't like the sound, you can put the cobras on- which you
will do eventually, anyway.
