Help me out here - carb or fuel injected. I can't remember when carbs got replaced - mid-80's?

Has it always done this or is the bad idle a new thing? Idle can be adjusted several ways on the carb - I'd start with the position of the idle fuel mixture screws. How far open are the 2 screws? Hopefully they are around 1.5 to 2 turns open.

Does it start in park and then stall when you put it in drive?
If thats the case then you have a locked up torque converter.
