Just bookmark this thread. It'll help us keep from having to retype it all

@dsifer
congrats...You'll love the truck. Ford makes the best truck on the market hands down.

I'm curious about your deal...mind letting us see some #'s man. Sounds like you ran at least a 6yr loan...maybe even 7yrs?

now that you seem to own the truck, we've moved into the

zone.

yeah

but you seem happy, and frankly I'm tired of typing the same thing repeatedly.

FYI, they didn't give you an even trade on the Jeep. They just bumped the trucks price upwards and gave you a # that made you happy. That $4,000 you put down vice the $2,000 previously discussed is why it seems like an okay deal still.

Recommend you hold onto this truck for a long time. You are going to be upside down for at least 2.5 yrs...but more likely closer to 4 yrs before you get to a Positive Equity standpoint

I totally agree..... Keep this truck for a long time to make sure you are not in the same situation again the next time. I will be trading in my truck after 10 years of ownership and would not do it differently again.

Remember this is a business transaction and they will not lose money just to sell you the truck. They can manipulate the money to give you the price you were looking at.

When I sold cars we always pushed hard on the 'how much can you spend per month?' question. Once we got this number we could reverse engineer the loan, car price, etc. Even if the car was $18,000 say, if they told us they could afford $400 a month, that's what they paid. $400 at 72 months for a $18K car. You do the math.

wow, these dealers are screwed up, deal was done and than salesman called me up to tell me the rate is wrong and he had to add 2500 more on the truck...i told he the deals off.

now im working on a demo with everything in it but it has 7000 miles on it.

msrp 44195
invoice 40000
5000 or 6000 due to miles
2000 down
3000 rebates
around 3000 tax

33000 or so,final price

is 5000 to little to discount for 7000 miles?

Take a look at Ebay Motors, this will give you a better idea of the Prices on the FX4 models at other dealers. Most were marked down a little over $7000 off of MSRP.

demo is a nice way of saying "USED"

negotiate from a used price standpoint. Does the truck have plates? if so, it ain't new

btw, no way in hell I'd pay $33,000 for a used truck. You can get that sort of deal on a BRAND SPANKING NEW one

Also it is a nice way to say reward vehicle for the top salesman. My parents did get a Mustang GT that was a "demo" but the dealer sold it as used and not new. Check to see if the vehicle has ever been titled. This could of been a repo or deal return and if that is the case I would say no. Ask yourself this question, "How do you drive a rental car?" If you drive it like you stolid it then so do other people. Now imagine that you have this nice new truck for a month or two and they call and say that the deal is off and you need to return the truck.

I am going back and stating you need to pay off your Jeep and then look at the truck or at least get some equity in the jeep before the trade. The salesman is trying to make a buck and will do what is needed to get you in the truck. They want you to fall in love with it and not want to return it. Remove yourself from the situation and decide is this a want or a need. I want a brand new truck, but my 1999 is fine and I do not need it, so I am waiting. IMHO

Some demos are not 'owned' so to speak but as others have said are given to salesmen, managers to drive around, show off the truck. You are looking at a used truck regardless. If you are ok with a used car, and it checks out ok, you can save some money going this way.

As others have also said. Negotiate price for the truck first! Forget monthly payments, etc. When you get that as low as you feel comfortable, 2) Negotiate your trade in value. If you don't like this deal, don't do it. 3) Negotiate financing.

Keep all three seperate. Dealers cloud these three items to hide a profit and make it hard for you to see what happened. In a perfect world you would beat the snot out of three or more dealers on a similarly equipped truck. Get the lowest price possible. Get financing from your bank or credit union. Deal with your trade in vehicle on your own. Sell it, pay off the loss etc. Why finance the upside down amount for 72 months?

Tell them to give you 2500 more for the Jeep. Period. They can do it. They will do it if they want to sell the truck. Trust me. I've had them give me 2500 more for a vehicle in the past when I looked them in the eye and said I didn't have the cash to put down after driving the vehicle for a week, even though I did. They let you drive it so you'd get hooked. Don't get hooked.

Yeah remember you dont HAVE to buy anything from them. THEY are the ones who should be catering to YOU, NOT the other way around.

Id say forget that dealer and move on if thats the same on that told you there was $2500 more to add on the truck. Doesnt sound like someone good to deal with at all.
