I think most folks are seeing about 20% off MSRP.

Here is what this is going to do to you:

Your cost of the new truck, after rebates, would be about 34,400. then add 4 grand negative equity, you get right back where you started.

Look at bottom line instead of looking at 9 to 10 grand MSRP, look at the deal your facing because of your negative equity.

It matters little what the numbers say, only the end result.

Bottom line is your going to end up financing about 38-39 K for this particular price range. Once you see that, the other numbers don't matter.

It goes back to retail vs. wholesale.

If you pay retail for the Ford, you will get retail for the Heep. If you pay wholesale for the Ford, you will get wholesale for the heep.

To get below 500.00 you have to FINANCE less than 26K unless you have EXCELLENT credit which could get you up to 36 K with zero percent financing through Ford.

In your situation (I was in very similar situation) I would negotiate down to 36K financed or less or walk. Anything higher than that and your paying WAY over your 500 bucks.

Personally I had little choice and ended up paying a very large car payment per month...but I use my first retirement to pay for my toys and could afford it. Everyone doesn't have that luxury and you really shouldn't stretch your budget to fit the truck.

look at a nice 4x4 XLT

You just aren't going to get the FX4 you've posted about with a $500 payment...especially not with a $4,000 negative equity to add on

sorry man

go to a few websites and get invoice pricing on the truck you want...see the below quote I put up yesterday (corrected for your real downpayment though)

$38,000 invoice price
-$2,000 downpayment
+$4,000 negative equity
=$40,000

- $2,500 rebate...and like I said, you can squeeze almost $6,000 depending on your qualifications

= $37,500 to finance
print off the invoice prices. then visit the dealership with the invoice pricing in hand. if they want a sell, they will give you the pricing. work the #'s I've put up using an XLT as the base price. The $500/month you want is achievable, but you need to look at a lower model F-150

dsifer...you are trying to buy a new truck on monthly payment rather than price and will likely be burned by the dealer on the sale. Dealers should be able to cook the numbers to suit your 'monthly' payment by extending the length of loan. BUT, you should never buy based on monthly payment. Always buy on price. Then as you move along the sales transaction, you look at the monthly payment options. If you can't afford the monthly payments at that point, you can't afford to buy the truck.

Best of luck.

You're basically paying MSRP with 0% financing. Or if I calculate correctly, your paying about $9,000 below MSRP with an 8.9% rate. Pull the trigger and put us out of our misery.

What you will get is a lower amount on the new truck, but a lower trade in value. This would make you upside down. Or they will pay off your trade and jack up the price on the truck. Never negotiate on a monthly figure as they know that is what you are looking at and not the bigger picture. Get the VIN and find out what the invoice is and do your calculations from there. Once you get that price talk about the trade and find out what they will give you.

As a person that has gone through this, I would say pay off your jeep first and then get the truck you wanted. My wife and I got into finical trouble doing what you are doing and learned a very hard lesson. We now only pay cash for a new vehical or we do not need it. Just a thought IMHO

God, i hope this isnt true.

Look guys, Ill be in the same situation as he in a year. I want to buy a new FX4, preferably Screw, but would settle with Scab, with the FX4 plus package, stock 18" factory rims, black cloth seats with the flow-through console and a rear slider. I dont need any other options. (like, yes. need/afford, no)

I will not be rolling over any neqitive equity, as Ill be a returning leasee. I will have, at the minium, $1,000 down, AT LEAST the X-plan, but probley the A-plan pin in hand. And because Im a returning Ford buyer/leaser, I believe they give you a few bucks for that too.

I too, will need a monthly payment of $500 or less, over 72months. Thats the allowance I give myself for a truck payment. I, at this time, have great credit and plan for it to stay that way. Sooo..

500
x 72
------
$36,000

Are you all telling me, that with the above info about my situation I posted, I could not get the TOATAL amount, after tax, tags, finanace charges, etc..to $36,000 or less on a new FX4 Screw or Scab with the above mentioned options???

There are so many FX4's on the road in my area Im sure someone got the deal done. I hope you guys will give me some input on this too. I REALLY want an FX4 Screw (or Scab)

However If I was in dsifer's situation, I would wait another year to a year and a half to try to shrink the negitive equity between the amount you owe vs. what trade in is worth on that Jeep. Thats what i did on my Ranger, and when I did I got my current F150

thanks in advance for any input you give me too!

I'd recommend getting a clue first. Automotive financing really isn't all that complicated... if you can obtain a driver's license (I hope) and successfully pilot 3 tons of steel down a road, you can figure it out. You need to understand how all of this works, before you get hosed... you're coming out of a bad deal (which likely started when you financed your previous vehicle) and about to go into an even worse deal.
