I think that is the key. I fought for many miles on my pickup with rotors and pads. Used whatever the local auto part store sold. Tried their different grades and had no luck at all. It only took one hard braking episode to ruin a rotor.

Had a carquest salesman in my office one day and was complaining about my brakes. He ordered me their severe duty rotors and pads. They are designed to work together and I will say that has been 50k miles ago. They have been awesome. I have had to get on the brakes many times when I thought here goes the rotors, but they are still nice and smooth.

I am getting ready to do the brakes on my X and will get a set for it as well.

I am not saying the Carquest rotors and pad are the best, but it is clear they are designed to complement eachother and do. JMHO
