Diesel in a 65???

Ok, I am new to the Diesel arena. I am looking at them all the time on the net and finally talked my wife into letting me get one, but I have to wait 1-2 years to get my F250.
So, I have a 65 F100 in the garage with no engine or trans. Just a shell waiting to be worked on after my other project (67 Mustang) is done.
I thought about putting a diesel in that 65. Nothing special or too heavy duty. It will be a daily driver when its done, and if need be have to be able to tow something (the 67 Mustang) in the event we move.
I have heard about 4 and 6 cylinder diesels but dont know much about them and cant find much of anything online about anyone putting one in a F100.
So if anyone out there has any angles on this or any info that would help. Maybe Im reaching too far and all with this project, so dont be afraid to tell me Im crazy.
The 65 is stock with twin I beams in the front and leaf spring in the rear. I think it had a 352 in it originally.
Im not looking to run a ton of electronics either, if it can be done, when its all said and done - easy and clean looking.

Thanks.

Go to the 6.9 7.3 idi forum and ask there. I remember seeing that someone had put a diesel in a 60"s truck but don't rembember who it was. As my signature shows I put a 6.9 idi in my 88 Bronco, but it was the same basic frame as the 86 F250 I pulled all from (front axle, rearend, trans etc.). These old idi's are mechaniclly injected and really only ned one wire to the injection pump to make them run. I can tell you that the front suspension will not hold one of these beasts though they are heavy!

6.9 IDI, a Cummins 4BT(3.9), Detroit 3-53T, or maybe others. Lotsa possibilities depending on intended use.

I'm into the 66-77 Broncos, and a lot of those guys are putting the 4bt cummins in them. Should be pretty torquey in a 1/2 ton truck, lots of room, etc. Not to heavy, where the 7.3 would be killer weight on the nose of an F100.

find yourself a cheap swather, most likely place to find a 4cyl diesel, most likely cummins or perkins...
