"cause I'm a die hard Ford Fan. My first car was a '68 Mercury Commuter wagon w/ a 390. Then a '91 Ranger, '96 F-150, '97 F-150, and now my '99 F-350. Always wanted the truck I have now, and will never (a) go back to a gas engine and (b) never buy anything but Ford. I will not let my wife buy foreign (she has a Dodge Magnum stationwagon) and I will never let a foreign POS put shade over my driveway. One time my old lady let her friend park a foreign car in MY spot, I got so pissed I broke a toe kicking a wood box LOL...

Because

1: Dad always owned Fords and never had any problem with em.
2: My friend with a Dodge/Cummins sold his truck and bought a Ford with a 7.3 PowerStroke. Had to have been for a reason.
3: Hy bro had a 7.3 and loved it.
4: I need to be able to haul and tow loads any time of any day.
5: IFS doesn't thrill me too much.
6: Ford has nice interiors.

And now I'd refuse to buy a new Chrysler product and I've always hated GM.

I am Ford man, always have been since my first at 16 - 69 Mustang. I bought my first diesel in 97 F-250 4x4 crew cab never any problems. With four kids,I needed something bigger so bought the Excursion.I thought about the V-10,but I also pull a trailer everyday and the drive to work and home is about 80 miles . I figured it was worth the extra cost again. It's been the best truck I've ever owned. I retired it from daily driving at 175,000,just use it for week ends and company. I bought a 96 F-250 with 230,000 on it at the time, and other than the TTB I am happy with it. I would like to do a soild axle swap and rear disc brake on it. I think the Duramax and Cummings are good engines, they have alot of coverage in Diesel Power Magazine. It's what surrounds them I don't care for. I don't like any of the new model trucks even the Ford. If someone gave me a choice of trucks,I would get a 03 F-250 Supercab shortbed 4x4 with the 7.3 . Or go old school with a 79 F-350 4x4 with 7.3 A/C,PW,CD player ,and the cup holders out of a 99 and up SD.

I was always a Chevy man. I needed a new pick up in '98, and Chevy (in CA any way) had no turbo diesels. I'm slow to like change, so at the time I didn't like the "new" SD's. I found a brand new '97 F250 and liked the older style and bought it. I love this truck, it has been great. I wish it was 4X4 but oh well. it now has 113,000 on it.
If I had to buy a new one now, I might get a GMC for the Duramax and the looks, but I hope I never need a new one. I like this one.
I guess I'm a Ford man now because we bought my wife a Five Hundred back in "05.

i bought my diesel because i always wanted one and i couldnt afford a newer one. i searched craigslist and found mine and saw the stacks and knew i had to have it.

i have always been a ford man and always will be from now on having owned one GM and a few dodges. the older dodges arent too bad but the newer ones suck.

I'm a Chevy guy inside and out, and have never owned anything else....UNTIL NOW. When it came time to buy my first truck I did tons of research and concluded that the ABSOLUTE BEST TRUCK is the FORD SUPER DUTY.

So you ask "why do I own a Ford diesel?"...well simply put - It's the best truck made, period.

I've owned an 89 dodge 250 4X4 gas, a gmc 3500hd gas, and now a 97 super duty, with the 7.3. I like the power and fuel mileage. It was easy to do some mods and boost the power, and since I liked it so much, I bought an 02 crew cab that I use like a car. 4 door with plenty of room for the wife and 2 kids. The international 7.3 is a very good engine, so is the 5.9 cummins. Ford has the total package in my opinion. If ford used the 5.9, it would be a great truck. If dodge used an international, it still wouldn't be a good truck. Go to any construction site, and you will see more ford trucks than all the others combined. Fords are for the working man.

I've been a GM man for years. Know the inside of a SBC, Iron Duke, 3800 as well as the next guy.

But while doing Concrete Construction for 20 years. I've seen how trucks are used, and abused.
When it came time for Me to start My own business, I found a pretty clean 85 F250/6.9 to start out with. It proved to be a great investment, and has never let Me down. So when I was looking for another truck, I found a nice 93 IDI turbo. Same deal. Tough as nails, no nonsense truck.

A fellow tradesman uses Chevy's, His trucks look pretty ratted out after 2-3 years.
Another Guy uses a Tundra. Same deal, the truck looks like It's been rode hard, put up wet.

4 years on My 93, and it still hauls 1800 lbs around daily, and looks damn nice doing it!
