I tried a search and found nothing on this subject so here goes nothing. the tab that accuates the neutral safety switch in the steering is broken. any ideas on how to fix this? the bar that moves this tab is in the colum and I cannot figure out how to weld it back on. any help would be great

Jeff, those switches are more trouble than they are worth.....how about a hose clamp or something on the switch to make it think you're in park all the time ? Then it would crank whenever you asked it to. DF

I "fixed" mine with some old baling wire I found in the barn. Of course, the problem with mine was that the tab that held the plug in had broken and it kept coming unplugged. Don't know if that's what yours is doing or not! I agree that they're just about worthless!

Well the whole deal with the Neutral start switch is this....

Not only does it provide "PARK" and "NEUTRAL" Starting, but it also activates your back-up lites when in "REVERSE"

The Tab you are refering to is a clip that snaps onto the Shift column inside the steering shaft... Not an easy part to find... I think I have the BOX for the clip when I replaced it years ago with the part # .. if I find it I will let you know..
