Current CVPI's come with a 200 amp alternator and an "idle meter" feature which monitors the battery voltage. If it drops below a certain level while parked and idling, such as on a traffic stop or on the scene of an accident for an extended period of time with all the emergency lights on, the computer automatically bumps the idle up to around 1200rpm to work on charging the battery back up. With the equipment in these cars now-a-days and the high amp loads being demanded, Ford came up with this idea and it seems to be working.

I work on police vehicles for a living and prior to the idle meter feature, we had departments coming in all the time needing new batteries & alternators. Since then, batteries haven't been an in-demand item.

the car and truck engines use different intake manifolds. otherwise, they are the same engine.. if you put a car intake engine in a truck, it will be a dog with no bottom end power.
