Smile 200,000 miles

well guys ive have my 88 ranger for about 3 mounths noow and i am going to turn 200,000 this week. i bought the truck 3 mouths ago with 186, havd some fule problems but other then that the truck has run amazing. i get 22 mpg with the truck empty 19 mpg with all my work tools on the truck and using the 4x4 in the woods. i love this truck just keeps going and going and going. well now that i am a bout to hit the 200 mark, i was wondering if there is anything i should replace befor it breaks and bllows up my truck. turck has never ran hot and and i change the oil every 5000 miles and run moble clean 5000 with a k&n oil filter and air filter. one thing i have noticed is that the water pump is geting very loud almost sounds like a bad baring, could this be a sign?

well i guess i would also like to no if there is any one els out there that love the old 2.9 like i do. i hear alot of bad things about this motor but i cant see where these things are coming from. well if you love your truck like i do chim in and lets hear about it !

Excellent reading about these little trucks durability. I fully expect to get half a mil miles out of mine! My little lady still has original everything right down to waterpump and exhaust and still no oil leaks @ 187000+. List of parts replaced is few; carrier(?) bearing on the two-piece driveshaft and went ahead and did the u-joints with greasables while I was at it but didn't really need em, tensioner and stationary belt pulleys, radiator, and IAC. Great truck and still going strong, in fact she's loaded down with fertilizer now!!

Congrats on hitting the 200k mark!

My '84 was almost to 300k when I retired it a few years back. Only lacked about 4000 miles.

That's definitely impressive. Mine was just doing too much nickel and diming (or hundreding and two hundreding) for my taste plus the body was shot from 300k miles in the salty WV roads. It had a good long life and it was time for it to cross over

wow its great to hear that there are other people out there enjoying thses little trucks. the milage is very impressive, my dad had an 87 and he got 500,000 out of it befor he sold it to a friend and he got another 50 out of it befor it gave up. great little trucks cant wait to see how many more mile i can get out of it. my last ranger had 333,000 on it when i sold that i hope to pass that with this truck.

belive it or not i bought the truck off the first and only owner of the truck, guy bought it in main in 88 drove it there for 15 years then meet his wife and moved to nj anf it just sat for 5 years and then i got my hands on it. dont get me wrong, the truck has its fair shair of rust but its not as bad as it could be. and now that i drive it on the beach all the time i wash it alot. i havent seen any more rust since i bought it and put it on the beach, i wash the truck as soon as i get off so i hope that i can get the body to last as long as the truck lol.

hope to hear some more great stories about your trucks looking forward to reading them.
