Hello,
I'm needing some guidance. I would like to use the best lube in both my differentials, ZF 5-speed transmission, and, transfer case.

I need recomendations from the people who know. What should I use as standard replacements of these lubricants? Also, where is the best place to go for larger fuel tanks?

I used Valvoline synthetic in my ZF-5 and it made a big difference in shifting ease, especially in cold weather. I have about 80,000 and the garageman says it looks like new. But I'll be draining and replacing it when I change engine. I've heard that you should run the same fluid in your transfer case that you run in your transmission because synthetic and mineral base gear oils don't mix. If the transfer case seal go'es bad, you might ruin both transmission and transfer . But this is heresay and I havn't heard anything official along those lines. I think you'd have to split the transfer case and also remove the rear end cover to properly clean those areas to run sythetic, but it might be worthwhile. Not a plug for Valvoline, but a definate good experience with synthetics.
