Thanks everyone, heading out with it this morning, a 50 KM trip to my son's in Montreal to help empty out a room of boxes etc., he's in a big reno and needs stuff moved out, will store box's, tires etc. in our garage for a couple of weeks.
Always amazed at the smooth sound of the V-10 idling! Ha. Wish us luck on a small maiden voyage.

Job well done

Yeah for Gene! I too finished mine up on Tues albeit with a few scrapes and bruises to my digits while putting the inner fenders back on.

I also ended up using an insert in one drilled out hole but I used a 1/2x13 OD with 8x1.25 ID allowing use of the standard stud. I also had one stub misaligned which I fixed with a little bend.

All in all I have about 20 hours labor and $300 in parts and new tools. I also installed new shocks (Monroe 34518) and brake pads. Prior to this project I installed new Nexen Rodian AT II tires and they performed very well on their maiden voyage yesterday when I took our first trip (a short run to pick up a Vette in OH) She purred like a kitten for 700 miles hauling 5000 lbs (just a light load).

We'll see what happens on my next trip through the passes going to Seattle with a 10K boat soon.

Like Gene; I would express great appreciation and thanks to the experienced users advice here. Hopefully some day I can return the wisdom to the next guy...

Took some surgery work on some over hang aluminum near the floor of the Class A to have the new EGR tube to fit nicely. Tightened that up, checked the oil and prestone levels. Fired er up, well, that's one swell sounding 99 V-10. A bit of a ping noise till warmed up, so did a MAP sensor cleaning, that cleared that up. Will get a new Air Filter to replace the K & N, it is usually the culprit in messing up the MAP.
Did and oil/filter and grease job today, checked tire pressures, down a few pounds after sitting since May.
Heading to Maine at the end of the month, will check the torque on manifold when I get back, don't forsee any issues.
Thanks again for your support. Eugene.

Man I love the 73 IMO the best single year Vette with the best of both worlds.( I could never afford a 67 So I liked the 73's)

I have had 2 of them, sold the first on the first marrige, & sold the 2nd on the 3rd marrige & 1st kid. On Ebay to a guy in Denmark.

I Sure miss em. But I picked up a 69 Mustang Vert. to replace it. Too bad it is still waiting for a turn on the rotisserie..

No disagreement in that 72 and 73 are my two of my favorites but I wouldn't toss a 79 out of my garage! I liked the early 70's to 80's transision look...

Be safe and have fun. The best part of a "job well done" is enjowing the ride!
Even with the ford engine engineering issues the general opinion of all the "motorheads" I know is the V10 was and is one of the best "hard work" motors ever made. Based on my experiance I'd have to agree.

No offense but you can have that vette, I'd prefer a 69/70 Boss Stang over any vette anyday. I guess my true Ford colors are showing through eh!?!

Haha. Who said anything about wanting to own a Vette? Liking the look of a particular year vette does not mean I'd own one.

I would agree on the choice of a Boss vs any Vette because quite honestly the Vettes really never have been much of a "sports" car and even with the most muscle GM could ever muster under the hood the car simply never rode or handled well at all.

Std Extractor

Nice find and good price... I could not find it anywhere local. Think I'll order a few for inventory!

Who can afford one. Not me Anyone got an extra 50K

That is a nice car. As far as Ford colors go the 69 Vert I have is getting a little upgrade. Boss 351w "CLEVOR" Best of both worlds.

My first car was a Ford truck a 67 F150 with a 352 It all started there in 1976.
I currently own 20 or so ford trucks & just got a 78 F350 Highboy last night. Hope the wife does not get the mail with the title. Over the years prolly had over 200 Ford trucks. All Ford Never a Cheby...

Here is a little list:

Non Ford

1954 CJ2B
1963 FC170
1976 CJ5
1977 CJ5
1979 CJ5
1986 CJ7
1991 Wrangler
1993 Geo Tracker Crawler on 37 IROC's
1990 GTZ (Wifes)

1969 Vert Stang Boss 351w Clevor C6
1969 Bronco 302 3spd 4.11
1971 Bronco 302 3spd. 3.55
1976 Bronco Boss 351w Clevor
1977 Bronco Built 460 C6
1976 F250 HB 4x4 390 4spd
1978 F350 HB 4x4 Built 460 C6 new last night
1979 F150 SB 4x4 460 C6
1979 F150 SB 4x4 351m C6
1988 Bronco II in progress
1989 F250 Lariate 351w 5spd
1994 F150 XLT 4.9 E4OD
1999 F250 SD The Mighty V10
1994 LTLA 9000 Detroit 10 spd
1985 F700 Dump 370 10speed
1988 28' Class A 460 20,xxx miles
2001 Grand Marq. (Wifes) 4.6 Nice
Another 1977.5 F350 HB 429 4spd have deposit in last week

As far as Chevy went the only good Chevy was the venerable 350, In a true sports car. The Vette...

The 73 Vette handles like but is a blast to drive, It was the only single year produced with the chrome rear & Rubber front. Kinda made a nice little Stingray. They were the only Chevy I would ever own, Wrap your Ass In Fiberglass. Next time you get a chance drive one

Good thing I found you guy's here some of you might understand.... Kinda Car = Truck Crazy Good Therapy...

Studs

I replaced all the studs last year with new ones on my F350, 4x4, v10 a total PITA!!! less then a year later the pass. side popped off a stud head and started leaking again!!! I replaced that stud but it still is ticking around the gasket. I'm so pissed off at this point I can't see straight!! I used Ford studs, (the parts guy said they improved them) and torqued every thing down to specs. I even ran a streight edge on my manifold and it didn't look warped that I could tell. At a total loss! Do I buy a new manifold for that side and do one side over (ten more broken studs I'm sure by the time I'm done) or go headers and do both sides. I just want it to stop leaking!!!!!!

Broncoholic; You have quite the list of previously owned Fords there. Nice! I lost any interest I ever had for shivy's many many moons ago actually in the mid 80's.

Windyhill; I still have my old set of manifolds from when I put on my headers and I tossed the studs and went with the bolts that came with my Banks. Make an offer if'n ya need em!

Thanks FFL

Got a few lined up round here

Windy
Use some high temp gasket maker on the manifold. On my Big blocks I just mill the manifold & use high temp with no gasket at all. Works every time. I am not sure on the V10 my studs have yet to leak, Even tho I have one that is broken off in the middle lower position.

I plan on adding headers before the studs are an issue
