04, 6.0, Serpentine Belt Replacement?
#16
Secondary alt. belt is pretty simple cause it is short. The main belt is a long one. You will definately want the belt route drawn out before you remove the old one. There should be a belt route sticker on the fan shroud by the latch. Some have done it in 10 min. but I think realistic if doing it for the first time and by yourself better give your self and hour. Just don't get frustrated. 2 people 1 on top and 1 underneath would make it a lot easier and quicker.

Yahooo. Add me to the list. ~40 mins, including looking for a flashlight that I didn't need, and going back in the house to grab my wife's chicken scissors to cut the old belt with! Busted a knuckle shoving my belt tensioner tool down into the tensioner, but overall it wasn't that bad. Screw "the book" and their 1.8 hours. Not a chance.

Thanks so much for this!!!!
No, you don't have to remove your fan and coolers, but it helps to pop the section of the shroud off over the top of the fan which only takes a flat screwdriver. Just the small curved section not the whole top half. It is possible to fish it through all the pulleys by just locking the tensioner at the alternator as previously mentioned. It took me about an hour, and one of the fastest tech's I know takes 15-30 minutes to do it (he did a cab off head gasket replacement in 6.5 hours).
Thanks so much for the tip on just removing the small top shroud. Made it so much easier.
