Pictures of what? I got it lined up. I had another person use a come-along and crank the axle to the rear and the bolt slipped right in.

Fords notorious "Fail Arms.."

After readin' all your postings, I know now what I'm up against. I just noticed the same problem with my '97 while I had it on the lift to replace all the brake lines. Most of the bars underneath and around the rear are trash! I gotta' get with PMT and get myself some of them lower ones and the long one behind the rear going from side to side as well. Is that the track bar..? The side / side one..? I love this sight , just wish I found it years ago . I bought my truck new in 1997 and put loads of cash into it. Alot of it would of been much easier goin if I had known about this site~ You guys are great.........

I just wanted to say thank you to all that contributed to this thread. I replaced my lower trailing arms yesterday with parts referenced on this thread and available on ebay, in about two hours. I'm sure it would have taken me at least twice that if i had not read this thread.

i also noticed that my track bar is very rusted and in need of replacement soon. Has anyone sourced an aftermarket version and installed it on their truck?

Thanks again.

I purchased a track bar from PMT along with the trailing arms. They did not have it listed anywhere, but they told me about it when I talked to them.

'97 Exp. "Failing Arms"~~~~~~

I ordered a set of lower trail arms from PMC Fabrications on 7/31 and had them in 2~days. After a few hours of fighting the old bolts out, they're actually a piece of cake to install. Lift the axle and not the frame and you'll have no problems. PMC, You guys are awesome.........But when I ordered ,I swore they told me that the {Track Arm} is "NO" longer available..... They were just not selling enough to make them anymore. I guess if I would have pushed the issue, they would have made them for me, but I know I can still get that part elsewhere..So I didn't push the issue. Thanx for all the help from all you guys and gals out there~~Much Appreciated...............

Dorman replacement lower trailing arms - OK?

New to the thread. Has anyone used the Dorman lower replacement trailing arms. I have two new from Rock Auto, they look pretty much like the originals. But, made in China - Ahh!! Not too happy about that. Bottom line - will they work ok? I'd rather not spend the additional dollars if I can avoid it. My Expy is already 12 years old with 180,000 miles. Fortunately I have access to a lift, so it won't be a driveway repair. Any suggestions or general comments on the Dormans is very much appreciated.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the have contributed to this thread. I have 180,000 on my 2000 Eddie Exped. I replaced my lower trailing arms last weekend by myself with jack stands and a come-along. It took me about 6 hours but I am a novice mechanic at best. Like others have said, the PMT arms look to be built way better than the OEM. My track bar will need to be next.

One question however, I am now seeing on the PMT website that they highly recommend lubracation the trailing arm bushings with PTFE grease. I did not do that. Do I need to get back under there, take the bolts off, and grease those bushings? I plan on keeping the Expedition about 2-3 more years which is probably how long before the body and door rust starts to really show.

I dedicated a grease gun to that type of grease as it is so expensive. You should be able to grease them through the zerks with the proper grease.

Thanks for the reply Craig. I just looked again, but I sure don't see any zerks anywhere on those arms or around the bushings are end of the arms. I purchased off of EBay from the PMT sister company called Expy Source since they were only $60.00. It looks like if you purchase off the main PMT website you pay a lot more, the zerks and hardware must be the difference.

I was thinking I should have put a light coat of grease around those bushing before install. My photo is below.

Hey What length are these bolts I would like to buy from the same place you did I just need to know the length. Also do you know the thread and pitch of the factory ones. My Expedition is a 1997. I am doing both upper and lowers I already have the replacements I just need bolts. Mine will not come out so I will have to cut most the bolts so I will need them all. Thanks for your help.
