Must have a quite muffler.

Just got to work on my 56 after a year off. Not easy to come back to but now really into it. I need to get the muffler system after I get by bed on. The problem is that I leave for work at 4:00 am and it will have to be quite. Any suggestions. Live in Eagle Rock CA.

Around here the cowboys with Dodge trucks go to the Muffler shop and have the stock muffler taken off and Flowmasters put on. They want the noise. The stock mufflers are stainless steel and are quiet but they sound good. The muffler shop piles them up in the corner. I bought two of them, for my 49, for $25. They are 2 1/2" pipe, so they work out real well.

Good idea on the recycle. Here in upstate New York, the wanna be cowboys do the same thing. I think they all must sign some agreement when the buy the things!
NVRAGN, if you just go stock, it should be nice and mellow! Make sure to have the full length of tail pipe.

lol around here they just cut them off...

I like Super Turbos (the muffler types not the confused ricer talking about whats under his hood), they sound very muscle car. Not loud, but I wouldn't consider them a quiet design, like I said muscle car. I think for quite the stock mufflers would be the way to go.
