2008 front coil springs

Newbie's first post. I just bought a new to me 2008 f350 lariat, traded it for my 06 f350 6.0. The new truck, lucky for me came with the original window sticker in the glove box. I noticed that one of the options is the plow prep package (not available on a CC with the diesel) and I gotta say that the front rides like a board and boy is this thing tall. So on to the question......have any of you done any research into the different front spring options? There is an outside chance I may plow with this truck at some point but not likley anytime soon. I really don't mind the rough ride but it make having my coffe in the morning more of an adventure. I would look at swapping out the springs if I get some good feedback that it is worth while.

Lovin this truck and not missing my 06 powerstroke one bit.

You might want to try different shocks first, the ride might be a lot better. And even if you do find out they don't help, it WILL improve the ride when you get softer springs anyway

Thread moved to the Superduty forum, you'll get lots more answers there.

Welcome to the forum, I'm pretty new here myself.

I just bought an 06 that doesn't have the plow prep package on it. And I need it for my plow.
Does the 250 & 350 take the same spring?
I'll trade ya.

Did you order your Oasis report.

I also traded my 06 6.0 for a 08 F-250 that I put stiffer springs on the front and 350 blocks in the rear. To try to answer your question - do you have any marking labels on the springs? Mine still had the marking labels and I could follow that # up and found the springs that came on my truck were 4800lbs. I swapped them out for the 6000lbs. Total time was about 1 1/2hr. taking my time. Now I could have plowed with the 4800lb springs had I not already owned a 9'2" Boss V plow. With the 4800lb and the v plow raised for travel in the v position I only had 2" of clearance in the rear which for me was not enough. If you get a plow you can always switch back to the stiffer springs. I think switching your springs is the easy part - finding out which springs you actually have could be the challenge, my guess is you have the 6000lb and could swap to the 4800. Do you have a v8 or v10?

I have the plow package on my crew cab, I have the PSD. If I were you I would not change those springs. Doing so will lower your payload and make that fron end sag over time. The diesel motor is heavy.

I have the V10, checked and they are the 6000's. I think I will buythe 4800 and save the others in case I do end putting a plow on it.

Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks. I'll try our local dealer.
Funny though, I contacted a dealer that advertises on this site and they said Ford will only let them sell what originally came on the truck because of liability reasons.
Told them I already have what originally came on the truck, I need the heavier ones.

zman just tell them you are doing a repairable and need them to fix a truck. Funny a dealer hesitate to sell parts! Lots of dealers around here have lifted trucks too, brand new ones, how do they explain that.
