'08 Navigatiuon Radio Upgrade - The end

Picture number 7 (the first one in this thread) shows the instrument cluster removed. It was retained by two bolts on the bottom and has one electrical connecter. After it is all disconnected, it takes a bit of figuring to get the steering wheel turned just right and the cluster twisted just right to remove it. The reason for removing the IC is that the GPS antenna attaches to the underside of the dash behind it.

Picture number 8 shows the Navigation ACM in place and powered up. All things seem well just sitting in place.

Picture number 9 shows it all done. I do have video footage as well. I'd need to edit it if somebody wants a copy and would do so and send it via CD pr DVD for a slight fee. There you have if folks. All in all it was a pretty simple swap.

Wow - nice work. Looks like a fairly simple process that requires patience and focus...but all in all doesn't seem too over-whelming.

I'd like to try this on my 2008 sometime later in the year. Thanks for the pics.

Larry, thanks for the pictures and tutorial of your project!

I will definitely use your experience and documentation when I pull my dash apart to do a similar project. I haven't decided whether I will replace my 6CD with an OEM Nav or aftermarket unit. The aftermarket units seem to have a bit more flexibility, but the downside is that IMO they don't nearly look as great as the factory models.

Thank you for going out of your way to help us out! Cheers!

Wow, you are one brave SOB taking the dash completely apart...I fear I would break too many tabs and have a rattling nightmare from there on. Install looks great, though!

I resent being called that! You don't even know me! However, for an ex Ford mechanic or anyone with any mechanical inclination at all, it was a piece of cake.

Maybe it's funny to you, but it sure isn't to me. My mother was a Christian lady who lived her faith well. Guys like you can ruin a good thread. If you didn't intend to offend, you should have kept your keyboard shut.
