Post Master cylinder for unknown Ford

I own a prototype 1973 Sportscoach on a Ford chassis (390 engine). Only four were built an it never entered production because of the oil embargo.
I need to know what mastrer cylinder it takes.

It sat for 4 years; put a good battery in it and after a minute of cranking it started and ran smoothly (on the old gas!!!). However, the brake pedal goes to the floor; no noticable leaks.

It has dual rear wheels and is automatic.

Any help on what chassis it may be? What master cylinder?

Thanks

I PM'd a user that hopefully will be able to help you with this. He is a retired Ford parts man and knows his stuff like nobody else does.

Welcome to FTE

1973/76: Ford offered their own M Series Motor Homes. These were built in the Louisville KY Assembly Plant.

The chassis is either an M450 or M500. The engine could be either a 390 or 460.

After looking at the pics, the bolted on master cylinder cap is the same type as the M Series used.

The master cylinder itself however, does not look the same, but pics in parts catalogs can be generic, so who knows.

D5HZ2140A .. Master Cylinder / Obsolete / D5HZ2140A replaced D3HZ2140A

Fits: 1973/76 M Series Motor Home. But there is NO guarantee this is correct!

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Take the Ford part number to NAPA, they may be able to cross it over.

Found one!!!

Found a master cylinder on eBay; it's a Wagner. Went to NAPA with the listed part number and they verified that it is one of several for 600-750 Ford trucks. They also wanted $365 for it so I bought the eBay one for $165.

I now have a better idea of what chassis this MH has.

Thanks for helping.
