1976 Ford 2000 tractor?

Has anyone serviced the trans on one of these? I am having a problem finding out how much and what type of fluid to put in the trans. I am sure one of the screws on the side of the trans is going to be the check point but I just want to confirm which one it is. The fluid smells like really burnt trans fluid?

If it has the standard tranny, There should be a pipe plug about 1/2 way up the tranny. I've never serviced ours, but that's where it should be. The rear end plug is a 3/8, not shure the size of the tranny one though.

I have searched the net for a manual, and I just get aggrovated b/c it just links off to other sites trying to sell things that I don't need.

I am going to stop by the local Barnes and Nobles book store to see if they would possibly have anything close to what I am looking for.

Went to get the manual. The level plug is on the right hand side, below the brake pedals close to where the tranny bolts to the rear end

It calls for esn-m2c77-a or m-4864 fluid. You can't beat old ford tractors. We have a 3000 and a 2600, both are diesel. Built ford tough really meant something back then.

I agree. We have one at one of our elevators thats been in service since the day it was made. Unfortunately, this tractor is lucky to get an oil change every two years. Good thing it only gets used 60-100 hours a year.

They are great tractors for sure. I just got a 300 '68 model I believe. I just installed a loader on it this past weekend. I am having to deal with the hydraulic auxilary manifold plate right now. But I got a part coming today hopefully.

BTW ytmag.com is a great place. Parts, Forums and stuff for sale. Great website.

I too was looking for a downloadable service manual for mine and get links to them for sale. I have a I&T service manual but it is pretty small. Good luck on the manual.

Got 12.61 Ac. Just got it. No livestock yet.
Still gotta refence it and build a new barn, the old one came down.

With all the things going on right now I may be ready for animals in the fall or spring.

Hey is dirt cheap as a matter of fact it can be had for free this year sometimes. I just mowed down about 8 Ac. and just let it lay. My brother is doing the same thing. Hay can't be sold and nobody wants it. Very plentiful this year.
