No Hot Air

Just bought an 00 F350 and went to use the heat last week and it would only blow cold air. I'm thinking most likely the mixer door not opening but I haven't had a chance to look into it yet.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there something I should be looking at first (motor, vacuum, wiring,???)?

If you have any ideas please let me know.

Thanks

BareBones is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Hold the heater hoses to check for temperature differences...... Look for StopLeak in the radiator...... Does the engine idle little high, etc.

Actually, are you gas or diesel?

Both of the heater hoses seam to be around the same temp, feeling them by hand.

Sorry it's a diesel.

Check for low coolant or maybe to much water and not enough coolant. Where are you at that you need heat this time of year

Yes, I did check that and the coolant level is fine.

Never thought of too much water. I'll test the coolant to make sure that is not the problem.

I'm in Ontario, near Toronto. We have been getting quite a few cold nights over the last month or so.

Seams more like nothing is happening when I turn the temperature knob from cold to hot though.

Thanks for the responses guys!

It be easier to just check the gauge and make sure the engine is warm. Probably not the best idea Ive has in a while. Im sure someone here will be of more help.

The coolant tested ok and the temp gauge runs at about 1/3 when the engine is warm. Is 1/3 on the temp gauge normal for this? Most vehicles I've had run anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 but this is my first diesel.
I tried the heat again to day just to see if there was any change and the air was still blowing cold, very cold, like the A/C is on.

No, once the gauge reaches 1/3 it stays there.

Do these usually run hotter them 1/3 on the gauge?

Thanks, that would be great!

If it should be at half, then I'll have to replace the thermostat and see what happens.

I finally got around to looking at this last week. When the blend door wires are touched or moved the actuator would start moving the door and always sit at the half way point.

I picked up a new blend door actuator a couple of days ago and put it in tonight. That was definitely the problem, it works great now.

Thanks for the help guys.
