trans case wont shift to nuetral or low range

ok....i know there is a post on the forums bout this cuz i read the thread and this situation is unbelievable!so i just bought this '91 f-150 lariat 4x4 from my brother and decided to give the 4wd a go.come to find out 4 high works like a charm...had fun....then i tried to hit 4 low...nope.the shifter wont pop to the left and down.i did a search on the transfer case wich is a bw 1356 i believe and found a thread on here bout someone else with the same problem and it said something bout shooting the shifter lever with some P.B. Blaster to get it to "unfreeze" if you will.no luck....hit that thing numerous times and it still wont come loose.any ideas?.....i read somewhere else that you can grind off the tab to let the shifter run straight back?dont really wanna do this for the danger exists of pulling the stick back to far when your "on the fly"....although i dont use 4wd ever and if i do 4 high is plenty i suppose.not like im gonna be pulling the house down or anything so not having 4 low is no big deal but since i have it i want it to work...lol.anyways....would just like some input on what can be done.

I really had to wrestle mine, but I eventually got it there. Getting it out of 4L is harder on it. I needed it once in a while, but since I ripped my step bumper off pulling stuff out with it, I haven't had to use it for anything.

Broken things are easier to fix than things that aren't...

did ya read my thread bout it? mine wont go either. when i get around to it im just gonna knock the pin out that keeps the shifter inline with the gate so it'll be a straight shoot out.

I'm not sure if mine is the same as yours. But two things come to mind.
1. the bracket down on the tranny might have come loose or some how moved out of position. The tranny shop that replaced my tranny didn't tighten the mounting bolts very well and the bracket moved and wouldn't let me shift into 4 low.
2. Mine, the manual says to push down on the lever then pull back into 4 low and 4 high.
Just some thoughts, maybe help or not.
