Edge vs SCT

Why is the edge programmer much cheaper than the sct programmer. Not just the basic handheld but the programmer with the screen that can monitor all the vitals.

Also are they both plug and play.

And can you still use the vital sign viewings if you were to say get it supercharged.

Yes the are both plug and play. Just plug it in pick your tune and download. Not sure why edge is cheaper then the sct. I got the x3 and love it. Wanted the edge cause of the screen but I have heard nothing good about the x3 and thats why I picked it up. I think the sct with the monitor is more cause it can hold 3 custom tunes and 3 canned tunes. So you got 6 tunes to chose from. Might be wrong but I thought thats what I read before

ok well that seems like it would make sense. But as far as custom tunes i am way down the road for that but would def like to monitor the vitals like trans temp and all that good stuff especially when towing.

I got custom tunes and I got no gauges and I tow. I was looking to get them for the pilliar like on diesel trucks.

i had the guages on my diesel but the price you pay for the guages to get what the comp tells you on these would actually cost more.

My boost was like 60, pyro 200, and trans was like 60 as well. So your looking at 320 on top of the 370 you pay for the sct. It would actually be cheaper to get the screen for the sct with all the programs.

Thats the main reason i liked the edge was for price and function. Plus it gets fairly good boost with the can tunes.

Ya thats half the reason why I havent bought them. I did find them cheaper before but lost the link to the website and cant seem to find it again. To be honest I have never had a problem with towing anything with the truck. Doesnt feel like anything is back there. If you are going to get a edge you should get the gryphon which is the edge but with custom tunes. If you are spending money for a tuner I would recommend the custom tunes. They make a big difference.

Plus the custom tunes can be tweaked if you're close to what you want but off just a bit. And if you mod the truck, your tuner can tweak the tuner to accomodate your mods.

I've used and still have both. I bought the Edge first and switched to the SCT X3 with custom tunes just before the custom tuned Edge (Gryphon) came about. The Edge definitely comes with much more functional hardware. I still have it hooked up to display as gauges. The canned tunes were pretty good, but the custom tunes on the SCT X3 are a lot better. I agree with Still Smoking, if you're going to get the Edge, I would definitely get the Gryphon. What makes the SCT a great option is that if you really want to dial in your mods, you can probably find a speedshop in your area that can use it to give you a custom tune on a dyno.

i bought the edge cuz it comes with on the fly info like millage, temps of ... anything you wana know on the truck and even 0-60 and a 1320 test. its pretty sweet
its cheaper cuz its not as advanced on what it does to your motor what sucks cuz its not as powerful but its good cuz theres less chance that you will cook it too... dont mean you cant.

no matter what id buy my edge again just for the info. then id leave the tunes out and get SCT's tuner for the power!

thats in a magic world of endless money.

I will be purchasing an SCT X3 in the next week and I was wondering if anyone had any warnings or cautions that i should be aware of. I want to get the power but i do not want to harm or tear up my pickup. any pointers?

Talk to mike from 5 star tunning. He is great and can hook you up with what you need. I have never had a problem with mine and I love it. Just if it says 91 octane use 91 octane or you can turn down the timing and run 89. I have done that a few times and works great. No down falls about this product. Mike has great customer service too. You can probably look up and thread about SCT and he is highly recomended by everyone

You can drive on the the performance all day if you want. Thats what I have done. Probably for a few weeks at a time. Just got expensive cause the higher price of gas. I dont know if they make a 91 econ. Im sure you ment 87 econ though. Running on performance all day wont effect anything
