I'm trying to find a replacement for the trailer wiring on my 1999 F150, but it seems that what I need depends on whether it came with a factor installed "towing package". Is there a way, short of going to a dealership, to determine by VIN number whether my truck has the "towing package" installed?

 

The only way to know that is to have a copy of the build sheet for the truck. Any dealer can get one run for you with the VIN. You could also PM the Ed at Y2K Ford Parts and he'll e-mail a copy back to you. He is a site sponsor. Good luck!

 

Did your truck have a 7 pin connector and auxillary trans cooler? If so it should have the tow package.

I just went to the junkyard and picked up one off a wreck.
