Depends on how you want to go
Replace the sensor no matter what.
On the ticking aspect...it really depends. Some guys go forever with the noise with zero issues. I have seen a few though that self-detonated
I personally would save my money and wait for a bigger problem. IMO, there is no point in throwing $1,400 at the top end, while the rest of the motor has some miles on it...money would be better spent IMO if/when the motor blows later on down the road if you just buy a whole new longboock
BTW, what oil and filter you using?

I highly recommend Motorcraft oil filter FL-820S, and Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic 5w20 ONLY and nothing else.
Fram filters and National Chain filters don't have good Anti-Drainback chech valves. This can lead to the noises you are hearing
