Aftermarket wiring harness?

Anyone running an entire aftermarket wiring harness?
After disconnecting the headlight/marker lights in my '49, it appears she is an electrical fire waiting to happen. Unluckily for me, I've had my share of fires so I'm VERY careful when it comes to these things.

I'm thinking I want to pull all the wiring out of the truck, and start over with something like the Painless wiring kits for street rods. I have a painless kit in my race truck and it's pretty simple, but it all connects right to the main switch panel on the dash.
The street rod kits come with a fuse block and all the wiring & relays needed so I think that's the direction I want to go with this.

Just curious as to what kits everyone else is using?

Yep, that is what you need, lots of kits out there, although Julie and some other Virgo’s like to do it from scratch using a new fuse block/wiring panel. Some of the middle priced kits have marked wires (horn, taillight, etc) and the cheaper ones are just black wire. Because I owe him a good turn one of the best (whatever that burn proof wire is called, thermo something) and probably most expensive is from Ron Francis.
Happy wiring.

I did the Ezwire complete kit on mine.. next one I will use the mini fuse version.. one thing I like about the painless is the changable circuits (powering windows/doors all the time or on key with just a move of the fuse)..

I've read good things about Rebel Wire over on the HAMB, that's the way I'm leaning if I ever get enough money and time together.

I installed a ron francis I guess three years ago. It was my first rewire and it was like falling off a log. The kit had good instructions very user friendly came with a new headlight swith and dimmer swich that are current GM part numbers and have an OEM plug so they are easy to replace, cheap, and easy to conceal the plugs. My only complaint is that it was expensive.

I used EZ Wire mini panel kit. I was very impressed with the quality and completeness of the kit and the Price was 1/2 the "biggies" that are pretty "proud" of what they sell. EZ Wire also has the best prices I could find on OEM quality (GM primarily) switches that just plug right into the harness. Its a Snap is another reasonably priced harness manufacturer.

I ordered an EZ21 wire kit today as well as power window kit and Dolphin gauges. I think there prices are pretty fair.

I just finished installation of an EZ harness. It was very easy to install and had everything included. I called them with a couple of questions and they answered everything I threw at them. Good people.

I used a "It,s A Snap" mini fuse harness. Complete with fuse block, fuses, marked wires, plug ends for headlights, marked colored wires, instructions nad phone support. apx. $120.00
The only problem I had was I had never done a complete harness before but now that I look back on it....you guessed it...It's A Snap!
I need another cup-o-Joe.
later, Ed

I just got finished with my second Ez21 kit went great. Used Auto Meter gauges with the first install. Used Dolphin gauges on the second. When I start on my Roadster I'll use EZwire again. RUSTY

Wiring

I and a friend installed the EZ21 wiring kit in a weekend and the kit went in very easy.
