timing marks missing

You saying the balancer only has one line mark on it & no others.
It should have the TDC line & then more lines with numbers over them. Might need to take a piece of sandpaper & clean the outside of the balancer so those lines & numbers will show up.
The 460 only has a pointer, not a flat piece with lines & numbers like the Chevys have.
Being a van front end, probably a bunch of stuff in the way & you cant see the pointer mounted below the water pump.
If your standing in front facing the grill, that pointer will be to the left down under the polution pump & beside the Altenator kinda about in the front middle of the engine.
A van has so much stuff crammed into the front area you might not be able to see that pointer.
Belts, pulleys, hoses, fan stroud, wires, my god its a wonder the fan will even pull air through the radiator.
You may need to slide up under the front, WITHOUT the engine running of course & feel with your hand just above the balancer & touch the pointer just to get an idea where its located.
Good luck, cause I got a class A & even with the polution pump & brackets all removed, I still cant see the timming pointer.
