Engine oil

Hi Guys & Gal,

Just wondering if anyone is running Valvoline VR-1 Racing Oil in their
Effies for everyday driving? And if so, What weight and how do you
like it? I`m not looking to start a big discussion about oil, Just want
some opinions. I just looked at the Valvoline website and was impressed
with the numbers relative to ZDDP.

Thanks

Gary

I use Castrol 10W-40 in my new (6000 mi) FE 390 PI. I used 5W20 to break it in - up to 2500 mi. (ok here comes the screaming) I also use STP, have a FRANTZ Oil Cleaner , and external oil cooler.

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone is running Valvoline VR-1 Racing Oil in their Effies
for everyday driving? Not asking what brand anyone is using. Asking about
Valvoline VR-1 Racing Oil. Thanks for your input.

I am running 20w-50 VR-1 on the advice of my builder. Three years or so, but low miles. No problems. (HIPO 460)

Hi Wayne,

That's what I`m looking for. Thanks. As I stated above I just looked at the Valvoline
website and was really impressed with the info they make available as compared
to the other oil websites. I`m sure I`ll use this oil after the break-in of my 312 ci.
You keeping that gorgeous `56 of yours shined up? Are you going to the North South
Run in San Luis Obispo this year? I sure would like to see your truck in person.
Anyone else using the Valvoline VR-1?

Hi Gary, The VR-1 racing oil is the same oil and viscosity (20W-50) That my builder used to brake my engine in, and also while he dynoed it.

I'm sorry to say that the North South run is not in the cards for me, at least not this year. Right now I'm getting ready for the Western Nationals.

Thanks again for the info, Wayne. Good luck at the Western Nationals,
Don`t be surprised if you win the big trophy!
I guess your the only one using VR-1. No one else has responded.
