Isn't that interesting! And I'm assuming you don't have the transmission type either.
Did your PO replace your rear end with a 9" and just not hook up the cables?
Here's a couple links to save for the future:

I wouldn't park on any hills for awhile!

i can top that one . bought an 85 cutlass for a beater once whilst the ford of choice was being worked on { my 70 big bird } . couldna figure out why the dain thing didnt stop well when pushed hard . previous owner gave me the receipts for all the pads , shoes and hardware . figured well i'll adjust them , the rear drums . imagine my suprise when i got under it and there was no lines to the rear . they had cut and pinched the line as it had rotted , and left it at that ................ sheez some peeps need to be beat !!!!!!!!!

I dont have to worry about parking on any hills here in florida.
Thanks julie for the sites.I thought that i had it bad
until i read 55 350's story about having the lines pinched off.
You will never know what the p.o.was thinking(or not thinking).

That's ok we all have a PO in our past.
Mine couldnt find a rear flex hose for the brakes so he used a grease gun hose. It rotted itself while the truck sat for 20 years, and blew out on my "test and stomp" run after re doing my drums and shoes.
Good thing I'm a test twice person when I do repairs.
