Volant CAI and Exhaust questions

I am just about ready to pull the trigger on a CAI and exhaust for my truck, but I have a few questions.

1.) What is the replacement number for the powercore filter if I purchase a Volant CAI kit (19754)? Does that kit come with an oil filter and prefilter? I just want a non oil filter.

and

2.) I'm looking into a Magnaflow SIDO setup. What would the part number be for my truck? What does the cross pipe setup do for the exhaust? Exhaust out before the wheels, or behind the wheels? I'm thinking dual out the back, but I guess it doesn't really matter. I want quiet sounds, until I nail the throttle.

I have that exact same setup, Volant CAI with Powercore filter and a Magnaflow SIDO. I don't know what the replacement number is but I know the powercore is an oilless filter. The part number for the Magnaflow that yields two out the back, one on each side, is 16614. The Magnaflow sounds perfect for what you're looking for.

Does the can you buy the volant cai kit with a powercore filter. Or do you have to buy it separately?

I suggest checking both manufacturer's websites for correct P/N's. I believe the Volant is offered with either the oiled or the powercore option...it's just two different P/N's. As far as Maggies, I think they changed the number from the 16614 to 16615 as the 14 had some fitment issues with the Screws...again, confirm with the manufacturer.

I think Magnaflow quit making the 16614 kit. I cannot find it on their site, and I didn't see any kit that was specifically for a CrewCab with 5.5' bed, dual rear exit

and the 16615 kit is for a regular cab truck

wonder what is up with that? and the prices are generally $50-100 higher on most of the exhausts

That would explain why PerformancePeddler won't return my emails for Warranty service because one of my hangers broke off.

I found the MFG-16614 exhaust on Hyperformanceauto for $544.14, ouch! It states it fits a 78' bed, but mine is almost 79", hope it fits. Is that an average price for that exhaust?

The Volant kit that includes the powercore filter is #197546. If you want the powercore filter only #61503.

I almost pressed the accept button to purchase the 16614 but decided to tripple check, and good thing I did. It was meant for a 2005-2006 f150. Im not sure if it would interchange.

Would the exhaust have a different sound if I had duals out before the tires?

the 2004-2008 trucks are identical from bumper to bumper on the physical aspects. It's just cosmetic differences between the years (bumpers Fog lights).

however, the 2004-2005 trucks have a different, bigger hitch. So some exhausts have issues with mounting up on the Drivers side due to interference with that hitch.

The kit #16614 is a perfect fit for any Supercrew, 5.5' bed F-150...you might have to monkey around 1-2 hangers on a 04/05 model...but it will fit just fine. I loved mine.

You can still buy Kit #16614, but it seems that Magnaflow isn't producing 'em anymore...so it's just warehouse stock left.

Probably because it cannot easily be adapted to the 09 F-150 (due to extra cab length)...and I'll bet we find they shortly pretty much drop all the 04-08 stuff

Well, I hope the 16614 fits the the 78.0 bed. Did you have 2 spare 12" pipes in the kit tylus, to fit your short box 66.0?

I will let you know Fordication.

the 16614 kit comes with 2 different midsection pipes.

I cannot remember which of these pipes I used (it was 3 yrs ago I did the install)

I clearly remember 1 pipe was alot longer than the other pipe...let me look through some pictures. I think I might have a few pics that show them right before I installed the setup

found it...I circled them in the picture below. sorry, no measurements

btw, thought I'd throw up a picture of that humongous OEM exhaust...that is my 2 yr old (at the time), and me in the background. I'm 6'3" tall for size reference.

btw, to remove the OEM exhaust, it has a nifty keyed slot. you have to loosen the bolt, then turn the whole setup 90 degrees. I spent a good 1-2 hours trying to figure out that f'ing setup

also, about 1-2 days before I traded in my truck, I painted the Exhaust Tips black....came out pretty good IMO...flowed with the whole White/Black theme I had going on. Think they might have needed 1-2 more coats though
