Subwoofers: Sealed or Ported?

Whats up yall. I have two Kicker CVX 12's and i have them in a massive ported bass probox. I love them to death, but have noticed thay they are very muddy at high volumes and tend to blend alot of sound together. If i go sealed, would i get a better response? I have a ford bronco and it seems most people who go sealed do it with cars with small trunks, but i have massive space back there. help please. here are some pictures and a video to help.

since it's been 24hrs, I'll chime in. Covering the port might help, as the internal volume of a sealed box is slightly smaller than ported. More than likely, the box isn't a great match for the speaker which is why it sounds muddy.

Porting usually reinforces one frequency, which you tune to the length of your vehicle. I skipped box building week, but I have a small understanding of it. The speed of sound is 1130fps, then you work on a 1/4 or 1/8 wave or so to fit inside your vehicle. With a sealed box, you just get the volume at or above minimum for the speakers.

I'm a big fan of small sealed enclosures. It takes more power to get the same volume out of the subs, but the bass is much tighter and accurate. I had two Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1s in the trunk of my Intrepid and they were really tight, but would deafen you when cranked up.

Know it's a couple days old now, but sealing the box will help bring out more accuracy from the subs, as long as they are in the correct sized enclosure. Also, is it one BIG open space in the box, or two boxes in one unit? It's generally a better idea to have subs in their own "Boxes" in a larger enclosure so that they aren't fighting each other and acting as transducers.

What kind of amp are you driving these subs with? Smaller sealed boxes generally require a bit more power to drive subs with. Last, if you do go sealed, make sure that the box is basically airtight. If it isn't, you will get port noise, whistling and it will still sound muddy.
