is it worth the time and money to put a typhoon intake on my truck it a 92 5.0L4x4 ipull trailers and and play in the mud mostly wiht the truck i just dont want to lose any bottom end it seemsall the gains are top end
The truck intake is not at all restrictive on a stock 5.0, matter of fact you will need a lot of upgrades before the intake becomes a problem. The 5.0 motor is never going to be a TQ monster so you have to work with it and do things that will take advantage of where it makes power, those things should include gears first of all and then you need to go inside the motor to help it breath better.
AFAIC most of these aftermarket air filters and intakes are not much more than a scam. In the cases where there are indeed horsepower advantages, they only occur at high RPM where you rarely run the engine anyway.
