5.4l timing chain tensioner issue??
Guys,
I have a 2004 F-150 with the 5.4l 3 valve that has started to make some disturbing noises. It is most apparent between 500 and 1000rpm, and sounds like it's coming from the damper. I have listened to a variety of spots with a wooden dowel and the best place to hear it is right at the front edge of the oil pan.
My guess is that I have a problem with a chain tensioner and I am hearing the chains rattle behind the trigger wheel on the crank. Clearly I am not interested in exploratory surgery if my assessment is wrong.
Has anyone had the same issues?
Thanks in advance!
