c5 anc c6..

nothin too major here just asking for future reference... what exactly is the diff between a c5 and a c6... i know both are automatic and johnnyboy already said this about them
"The C-5 is an updated version of the C-4 with a lock up torque converter. It sounds good on paper but most people seem to have trouble with them and the aftermarket is pretty much nonexistant."
thanks again guys

Pretty much every thing that is different between a C4 and a C6. C6 is longer heavy duty non removable bellhousing and uses all clutches and no belts. C4/C5 has removable bellhousing, light duty (C4 can be built to be very strong), and uses I think a 2nd gear band I think and two clutch packs oh yeah and the C5 has lock up.

The c4-c5 uses a intermediate (2nd gear) band and the c6 also uses a intermediate (2nd gear) band.

The c4-c5 uses a low-rev band and the c6 uses low-rev clutches.

i have 2 questions for you.1what is the difference in the E4OD,4R70W and the 4R100.
i know that the 4R100 is the heaviest, and i know that thy all share a similar design,
with close to the same gearing.
2 how tough is a zf 5 speed, and how much tougher is the zf 6 speed.

the 4r100 is basicly an updated e4od

the zf5 is a pretty stout trans. they cam in 2 different versions. The zf-s5-42 and the zf-s5-47. the 42 was made from 87-94 and rated at 420lbs tq. the 47 is rated at 470 lbs tq. the 42 have benn know to be a smoother ****fting trans

The zf-s6-650 is very strong, rated at 650 lbs tq. but puttin one in a 97 and older truck is a chore. the trans tunnel has to be heavily modified or a body lift is needed
