Carlisle All Ford show June 5-7th
Just wondering if anyone will be going to the Ford show at Carlisle, PA June 5-7th?
I have a race in Maple Grove, PA that same weekend but my motor is wounded in the race truck, so I doubt I'll be racing. I do write for a racing magazine, so I was still considering going 1 day, but the Carlisle show is also a draw. I only can get off work 1 day to go, so I'm debating what I should do.
Is the Carlisle Ford show as big as they say it is?
Are there a lot of vendors there with good deals on parts for my '49 F1?
The only reason I really want to go is to pick up most of what I need for my '49 if the vendors will be there.

Over the years I've been to Carlisle for the Spring, All Truck, and All Ford events. To my mind the Spring event is best of the three, and have heard that Fall is the biggest. The All Ford could as easily be called the All Mustang event. The truck event is mostly the slammed rice burners, or jacked up 4x4s.

I haven't been there for about 5 years but it was good back then. It may have changed due to the economy, but maybe you will find cheaper prices because of that. If you like old trucks of all makes then this is for you. You do have to put up with some low riding rice burners, but there is something for every one. Check the Carlisle website for more info. The swap meet is (was) good. There are big name ford repro parts suppliers, Hot Rods comes to mind. I think Mid-Fifty said they will be there this year. You won;t have to wade through car parts to find your truck part. There are a lot of good used parts that come from the dry West. It is smaller than Spring or Fall and you can cover it in one day.

I went out there on Saturday with my father. My first time at Carlisle.....damn that place is big!
I was disappointed in the Macs & Dennis Carpenter booths.....basically just had catalogs and some miscellanous stuff for all makes.
Hot Rods was there with a big display and trailer full of parts.
I dropped quite a bit there, as they had most of my "shopping list" on their trailer. Very nice guys that were recommended to me before I even went. I spent alot and paid in cash so he cut me a good deal, and is even shipping me some stuff for free because he didn't have it with him.
I will absolutely buy from them again, no doubt they won my future business!
Other then that, there were a few guys there selling 48-52 parts, but their sheetmetal looked like it had been laying in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean since the 50's. A lot of junk parts but couldn't find a simple little item I needed....an ash tray for a '49!
There were a ton of Mustang dealers out there, and we had to wade through most of them. My father needed a few hard to find 70-71 Torino Cobra SCJ Drag pak parts, but we did manage to find quite a few of his "shopping list", so overall it was a good day.
I was disapointed in the car show though. I only saw about four or five 48-52 F1's there.
