Update: Not good news

Morris, I don't know if you are now alone in your home, but when I went home Monday night, just walking into the empty house, then climbing into an empty bed for the first time in many years was terrifying. I too know that a lot sooner than anyone could want, that will be permanent, and I don't know how I will handle it. Donna and I have come from different walks of life, and there is an age difference between us, but we are so compatible. She is my soul mate, we like to do so many things together, shared so many of the same dreams, and unless a miracle comes along, I will have to live those dreams by myself. I know that the living have to go on, but sometimes the thought of doing it alone is just overwhelming.

Well, we are heading home today. Surgeon has removed the chest tube, oncologist has called in Hospice to help care for Donna and to make her comfortable at home, just waiting for the paperwork to be done so that we can go.
Here's a pic or two from our happy event this week. Nobody who knows me can believe she actualy got a ring on my finger The cake topper looks like the way I figured I would go down the aisle. My mother still says she'll have to hold the liscence in her hands to believe it.

Since getting home Donna seems to be getting a little better. She just didn't like the hospital food and pretty much refused to eat any of it. I have been able to cook things that she likes and get her to eat a little. Her strength seems to be returning slowly.
I am almost certain the oncologist caused this episode, the last round of chemo was prescribed to be give with an infusion pump over a 72 hour period and he gave it all to her in 3 hours. If she gets strong enough to return to treatment, I am not sure I want him to continue to treat her.
Donna really did like the flowers, just wish they could last forever.

Man - that cake topper is just the best...lol. Let me add my (belated) congratulations for you two as well. Glad to hear that you got to go home as well.
Jeff, Donna - I know we've never exchanged words via this forum before tonight, but I just also want to express my support and let you know that I'm praying for you guys as well. God bless you both.
