They're about the same, but to fully appreciate it, you'll have to ditch the Banks crap & go with custom tuning.

Chris, like Joe just said. You need to call Banks and see it they can tune your chip for the VB. I don't think they can, but it would be worth a try. I had to get my DP tuned to the BTS-VB. Good luck with your trans with the Banks. I guess you know now that we don't do Banks.

Don't worry about the Banks stuff guys. As soon as I get a minute I'm getting my PCM number to Clay so I can order my DP Tuner and some other stuff.

EDIT: Mike I was looking on ITP Diesel. I saw a thread from the end of March and the valve bodies were back ordered. They are actually not nearly as expensive as I thought. Did I read correctly that the JW VB's are already compatible with the DP Tuner. If I have the DP and later on down the road get the VB would I have to get my DP reflashed?

I talked to John last week and he's real busy right now, I know thats not the problem with the VB's tough. I've heard its a lack of cores.

The way I understand it, no. But if you get whichever kit now (JW, BTW, TransGo, etc.), you can get your tunes to match. I WISH I would've done it that way. The VB mods really make a huge difference, so it's worth doing first. If you worried about cost and don't mind tearing into your own trans, get the TG kit. For $65-$100 or so, you can have a more fully mod'ed trans. Get the tunes to match and LOOK OUT!!

What is the TransGo kit and how hard is that to do? Is it much different than the JW, BTS, and other kits.?

The BTS & JW is just swapping a pre-mod'ed accumulator valve body. The TransGo is tearing into the VBs and mod'ing them yourself. The TransGo mods the main VB as well as the accumulator VB, and if you really want to get nuts, you can mod the pump and the TC lock-up solenoid too. To do those, the trans needs to come out though. I'm VERY happy with mine, and I'm glad I did it myself. It's cool to see how the trans actually works in there.

For best results just call JW directly and ask him. Personally, I would buy a JW and not do it myself. When you talk to John he can explain it to you and how those kits work.

^^^^^true, I know he custom machines his VB's plus he has some secrets that he does'nt exactly reveal, but im pretty sure he uses a mix of parts from trans go, sonnax, Ford, and well I guess thats for us to wonder.

Not sure what those guys do, I'm sure you can't go wrong. But I would say that the TG kit makes a hell of a difference -- I can't imagine my shifts being better than they are now. I'm very happy with it and would do it again in a heartbeat if I got another truck.
