Hey everyone. I know that the 1994 Lightning was used as the Official Truck for the 1994 Indy 500, and have seen some pictures of the truck (white) with the "OFFICIAL TRUCK" decals, and Indy wings symbol. Is there anywhere I can get a set of those decals? I tried my local Ford dealer and they told me that they were never offered through dealerships to Lightning owners. Is this correct? If so, is there anyone out there that is reproducing these decals? Any help or information that you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks!
Now there is something I never knew about the lightning at all, but it makes sense, since the mustang for that year was the pace car as well. Was your dealer an SVT dealer? I found a picture of one on ebay tonight, and compared it to the cobra pace decals, and they are not even close. I can't even find any info anywhere on the net about pace trucks, never mind the 94 lightning, and 79 F-150, 250. If you come across something, let me know.
Other than that, if you had a really good picture, you should be able to take it in to a decal shop, and they can make it for you. Might cost a bit more, but it would be worth it.
Did ford even make these trucks public?
Gary here, I too checked this decal thing out a couple of years ago. I even went as far as contacting the speedway itself and the SVT people. I was told that a few lightnings were used for some track duties and that the decals were made up for them. There was never a plan to put the decals on the market. I saw the decals in some lightning advertisements. When I asked if they could be made up for sale, they just said no, not at all. I talked with ford SVT and they said that they wanted to use them, but were told no also. So it's just one strange things you can't get. I even asked a decal maker in Arizona if he could make them up and was told that he would have to see one first......none to get.
