2 Meter Ham Radio install

I will be installing a few radios in my truck when it gets here in a month or so.
I'm getting a center console and plan to put the radios inside - with at least one of the control heads mounted outside for easy access.
Several manufacturers like Havis make everything from full replacement consoles to smaller mounts for radios and computers etc.
If you only plan to install one radio these may be a bit more than you need.
I would probably look at mounting the radio remotely under one of the front seats or under / behind the rear seat depending on which cab you have and mounting the control head on the dash area for easier access.
Get good power from the battery and get a good quality antenna - which you could mount on an "L" bracket on the Left front fender opposite the radio antenna or go with a roof mount. I know its hard to drill holes in a new vehicle - but its worth it in the long run.

Ok I dont know if this will help or not but here goes- I have a RCI 2950 and I installed it in my 08 without any drilling or adhesive. I bought a pair of side mount brackets and it rests partially in the storage compartment of my center console, and partially against it. It doesnt ever slide, fall, etc and works great!
I cannot figure out how to post pix on here so check my gallery.

Thanks guys, the Havis looks great but may be a bit overkill for my Kenwood TH 271 A.....looking at the Ram mounts catalog for a possible workable solution.....Would love to buy a new Kenwood TH D710A with detachable face and APRS equipped..... but $$$$$$$ ......well you know how that goes
