Compression for a 400?

I'm looking at buying a used 400. What should the compression be and is there anything else I should look at/consider?

Make sure it's a 400 and not a 351M.

and how would I go about doing that? I know the only difference is the stroke, right? How can I measure that without tearing it down?

400 crank casting number are 5M, 5MA or 5MAB. 400 crank also have a small ridge at the front of the first counterweight, about one inch from the bottom of the counterweight witch 351m don't have. 351m casting is 1K.
