Tim received the new cam at 0945, and handed it over to his machinist. So, I'm hoping we'll be hearing something by the end of the week if all goes well. I'm not sure what the schedule is currently, tho. We'll see if the folks at Comp got the grind right for the circumstances. Hope so!

What CR is your engine? I am running 10.3:1 and I hope I don't have the same problem. Is the new grind much different?

According to Tim, I'm running just shy of 11:1 on my plant, and he hasn't told me the specifics of the cam yet, but i'm sure that'll be coming.

I spoke to him today at about noon, and we've hit a bit of a snag.....
They got the new cam, and have already put it in the engine, and when they made a baseline run on the dyno, one of the cylinders got water in it. So, either the head gasket had a flaw and blew, or the block itself cracked due to some weakness they couldn't detect prior to machining. Tim said the head was already off and they were inspecting to try to figure out what the issue was.

The upside to this, is that without the carb or the timing being dialed in, and with one cylinder filling up with water, the engine pulled 539 ft/lbs of torque! Tim said that when they get the water issue fixed, and have the chance to dial the plant in, it's going to probably pull even harder than that. He didn't give me any horsepower figures, but if it's pulling that kind of torque and it's not even up to 100%, I have a feeling that it's going to do a bit better than that yet.

So, while it was a mixed bag with good news and bad, it's minor setback considering the numbers it's looking like it will produce. Tim says he thinks he's REALLY going to like this cam, so only time will tell.

That is good to hear on the torque, I figured it would do really well! I am interested to see the difference in the cams! Keep posting and let me know how it is going.

Talked to Tim today, and as I figured, he said it was the head gasket that gave. Our theory is with the previous cam, the detonation didn't help the gasket in the integrity department, and when they fired it up with the new cam, it failed. So, he's got some premium head gaskets on the way, but they're a couple days out. Might hear something next week some time, I suppose.

Yeah...Tim said the head gaskets are in, and they've had it back on the dyno. I got an email last night saying that there was a miss during a high speed run, and he was investigating it. He believes it's a carburetor issue, and he's working on it. So, it's starting to sound like it's getting close to being dialed in, which is a good thing!

No numbers yet (they're keeping that hush hush for the moment until it's running right), but they did say that it sounded great.

I was going to email Tim, but he will see this also.
I had a long weekend and the shop has been attacking the local farmers jobs. So while they help with them, I am going to look at the stroker in the next day or so.

I shot Tim an email a few days ago to give him a little update and it bounced back. I know he is moving so he is quite busy and maybe he changed his email.
We were thinking that there may be a fuel issue because we had a high speed miss. I have now found that I think the valve springs are to strong and the lifters are bleeding down. I have changed the springs and hopefully plan to get it started Monday.
Everything is looking great and pulls like crazy!
